How to use it

Brand, family, reference. The structure the trade uses.

The catalogue mirrors how the trade thinks about watches. A brand has model families. A family has references. A reference is the specific watch (case material, size, dial configuration, year range) that you can identify, value, and trade.

Browse a brand page to skim everything that brand produces. Use Ctrl-F to find a specific reference engraved on a case-back. The same catalogue lives inside the ChronoDesk product as inventory autocomplete, so dealers using the app type the first three digits of a reference and the rest fills in.

We do not authenticate watches. We do not value them. The database is descriptive. Always confirm authenticity and current market value with a specialist.

Watch database FAQ

Coverage, accuracy, translation.

  • What is in the watch database?
Reference data for 27 watch brands, 23,597 references in total. Brand, model family, reference number, and the case-size and gender attributes we hold for each. Vintage and modern production.
  • How is the database structured?
Brand → model family → reference. Each layer is its own page. Start from a brand if you know the brand and want to find a specific model; start from a reference number if you have one engraved on a case-back and want to identify what you are holding.
  • How do I look up a specific reference?
Open the brand page and use Ctrl-F / Cmd-F to find the reference within it. Individual reference pages with deeper specs, dial variants and market notes are planned for a later iteration.
  • How accurate is the data?
Reference numbers and basic specs are pulled from our internal catalogue and cross-checked against published manufacturer literature plus reputable enthusiast references. We do not authenticate watches and we do not value them. Corrections welcome at info@chronodesk.com.
  • Can I contribute corrections or missing references?
Yes. Email info@chronodesk.com with the brand, reference, and a description of the change or addition. Substantive submissions credited where the contributor wishes to be credited.
  • Does the database support multiple languages?
Reference numbers and specifications are language-neutral. Editorial copy (brand history, model descriptions, market notes) is being translated to German on a rolling basis. The same URLs work in both languages: /watch-database/rolex and /de/watch-database/rolex.
