Iconic collections

Pilot's Watches: family that traces back to military pilot watches of the 1930s and 1940s. Big Pilot (46 mm, oversized crown), Mark XVIII / Mark XX (39-41 mm, military lineage), Pilot's Watch Chronograph, Top Gun (titanium / ceramic variants).
Portuguese (Portugieser): 1939 origin, elegant Arabic-numeral dress watches. Portugieser Automatic, Portugieser Chronograph, Portugieser Perpetual Calendar 5034.
Portofino: round dress watches with more contemporary minimalism.
Aquatimer: divers' family. Mostly discontinued; collectors hold the Galapagos and Vintage editions.

Reference numbers

IWC uses four- or five-digit references prefixed with IW (e.g. IW329301, IW500705). The IW prefix is the brand identifier; the digits encode model line and configuration.

Movements

Mix of in-house calibres (the 89360 Da Vinci, the 51000 Portugieser Automatic, the 82200 Pilot's Mark line) and supplied movements for entry-level references. The IWC Pellaton automatic winding system is a brand-specific innovation.

Notable complications

The Portugieser Perpetual Calendar designed by Kurt Klaus (1985) introduced a perpetual calendar mechanism with a four-digit year display and a hemispheric moonphase that is accurate to one day in 577 years.
