Audemars Piguet

Audemars Piguet is a Swiss luxury watchmaker founded by Jules Louis Audemars and Edward Auguste Piguet in 1875 in Le Brassus, in the Vallée de Joux. One of the three "holy trinity" houses (Patek Philippe, Vacheron Constantin, Audemars Piguet). The company remains family-owned and produces approximately 50,000 watches per year.

Royal Oak

The defining product of modern AP is the Royal Oak, launched in 1972 to a design by Gérald Genta. Octagonal bezel with eight visible hexagonal screws, integrated bracelet, "Tapisserie" textured dial. The Royal Oak created the luxury sports steel watch category that the Patek Nautilus joined four years later.

• 15202ST "Jumbo": 39 mm extra-thin, the closest descendant of the original 1972 piece. Discontinued in 2022.

Royal Oak Offshore

The Royal Oak Offshore (1993, Emmanuel Gueit) is a larger, more aggressive interpretation: 42 mm or 44 mm cases, chronograph emphasis, gritty case textures. References 26420, 26405, 25721.

Code 11.59

Code 11.59 (launched 2019) is AP's contemporary round-case collection. Initially mixed reception; the line has evolved. Reference 26393 is the chronograph.

Complications

AP has produced complicated watches at the highest level (minute repeater perpetual calendars, tourbillons, grande sonneries) since the 1880s. The catalogue includes a serious selection of perpetual calendars, tourbillons, and minute repeaters across the Royal Oak and Code 11.59 lines.

Market position

The Royal Oak in steel is among the hardest-to-acquire luxury sports watches in the world, alongside the Patek Nautilus and the Rolex Daytona. Allocation is severely limited. Secondary market trades at 1.8x to 3x retail depending on reference.
